The Davie County High School Band program is home to three distinguished concert ensembles: the Concert Band, the Symphonic Band, and the Wind Ensemble. The Concert Band primarily consists of 9th-grade students and serves as a foundation for young musicians. The Symphonic Band is open to students in grades 9 through 12, with 9th graders requiring an audition for acceptance. The prestigious Wind Ensemble is an audition-only ensemble, welcoming dedicated and talented students from all high school grades. These ensembles represent the heart and soul of our program, and we take immense pride in their achievements. Consistently performing at an exceptional level, our groups have earned Superior and Excellent ratings at Adjudications. Notably, our Wind Ensemble has had the honor of performing twice at the President's Cup National Concert Band Festival. Meanwhile, our Symphonic Band and Concert Band actively enrich our community with performances across the local and regional area. These ensembles exemplify our commitment to musical excellence and community engagement.
Music Performance Adjudication (MPA) is an annual Concert Band Festival that serves as both a challenge and celebration of musical growth. During MPA, we travel to a designated location to perform for a panel of expert judges. These judges evaluate our performance and sight-reading skills, providing valuable feedback and assigning a rating that reflects our execution. Achieving a "Superior" rating is the highest honor, showcasing excellence and dedication. This event inspires our ensembles to reach new heights while fostering a deeper connection to the art of music.
