Mr. Brusseau is the Director of Bands at Davie County High School where he serves as the Conductor of the Davie High School Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, War Eagle Regiment, Jazz Ensembles, coordinating small ensembles, and solo performances.
Mr. Brusseau is a graduate of Appalachian State University where he received his Master of Music Performance in Conducting and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education. While at both Universities, Mr. Brusseau performed in many ensembles.
Mr. Brusseau's professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, North Carolina Music Educators Association, the National Band Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Phi Kappa Lambda.
In his time away from school, Mr. Brusseau loves spending time with his wife Kara and dog Molly.
Mrs. James is a graduate from Mars Hill University with a degree in Music Education with a concentration in Percussion. While at Mars Hill University, she performed for the Mars Hill Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Low Brass Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and College Choir. Here, she was fortunate to study percussion pedagogy under Professor Dr. Brian Tinkle, and conducting and band techniques under Professor Dr. Alton Corley and Professor Mike Robinson.
After college, Mrs. James taught for 3 years in Caldwell County at Gamewell Middle School. While at Gamewell, Mrs. James was named Rookie Teacher of the Year for the 2010-2011 school year. She then moved to Winston-Salem to start a family. She has a wonderful husband and a beautiful son.
Mrs. James is currently the director of bands at William Ellis Middle School. The 8th grade band received their first Superior rating going in Grade II music at the State Music Performance Adjudication in 2013 and has continued the tradition ever since. In 2015, the 8th grade band received their first Superior rating going in Grade III music. Mrs. James was awarded Teacher of the Year for the 2016-2017 school year at WEMS. The WEMS Band Program has a great tradition of record numbers in All County, District and All Region Jazz Honor Bands.
Mrs. James is active in the Northwest District Bandmasters Association and North Carolina Music Educators Association.
Dylan Jones, a native of Burlington, North Carolina, is currently in his eighth year teaching band and his second year teaching at North Davie Middle School in Mocksville, NC.
Mr. Jones received his Bachelor of Music Education with a concentration in Instrumental Education from Appalachian State University, as well as his Bachelor of Music Performance with a concentration in Saxophone under Dr. Scott Kallestad. During his time at Appalachian State, he was a member of the university’s chapter of NAfME where he served as the Treasurer. He also served as the Secretary for the Rho Tau chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Music Fraternity. Mr. Jones played in numerous ensembles at Appalachian State including the Concert Band, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble, and several chamber ensembles. He was also a member of the Marching Mountaineers as a saxophone player. While a part of the Marching Mountaineers, he held leadership positions such as saxophone section leader, drum major, and Woodwind Caption head. He completed his student teaching with Mr. Brian Myers at Green Hope High School.
Mr. Jones is currently a member of NAfME, NCMEA, the Northwest NC Bandmasters Association, and the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA). He currently lives in Winston-Salem, NC. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, cooking, and playing video games. Mr. Jones has a true passion for teaching music to kids. He truly believes that every student is capable of making music with enough hard work and the right attitude. His hope is that his students learn to have a heart for music and how to be productive members of society.
