War Eagle Band Student Leadership
We take pride in the fact that our band program is "OUR" band program. We celebrate the talents and skills of each band member in our band. It is in our differences and individual strengths that we can support one another in building a better program for ourselves and those band members yet to come. No member is insignificant and no member is exalted above the rest.
Band Captain: Makes announcements when needed in class. Monitors the band email. Helps maintains the Band Google Drive and Band website. Attends Band Booster meetings.
Business Manager: Attends Band Booster meetings. Passes out any forms/paperwork to the band. Is the "Charms" program manager. Works with Band Booster treasurer to distribute receipts to band members. Writes "thank you" letters to sponsors.
Student Conductor: Directs the band if the band director has to be absent from class. Occasionally will be asked to run the warm-up/fundamental portion of rehearsal.
Drum Major: Conductor of the War Eagle Regiment (Marching Band), directing at weekly rehearsals and football games.
Director of Woodwind Ensembles: Organizes, rehearses, and conducts woodwind ensembles.
Director of Brass Ensembles: Organizes, rehearses, and conducts brass ensembles.
Director of Percussion: Organizes, rehearses and conducts percussion ensemble.
Director of Jazz Ensemble: Rehearses and conducts Jazz Ensemble.
Drumline Captain: Leads weekly drumlins rehearsals.
Marching / Drill Captain: Teaches marching fundamentals and drill during Marching Band and parades
Music Librarian: Keeps the music library in order and providing copies of music for each ensemble member.
Clerk: Takes daily "paper" attendance for large ensemble rehearsal. Keeps track of pass-offs and small ensemble rehearsals.
Journalist: Keeps a written record of everything that happens in rehearsal each day. (what music is rehearsed, fundamental exercises, special guests, etc.)
Press Secretary / Publicity Manager: Writes stories for the newspaper. Takes photos and adds to Google Drive. Edit and maintain band website. Make posters and alert media of performances. Make programs for concerts.
Director of New Personnel: Assigns "buddies" for new band members. Welcomes freshmen and new band members. Attends freshmen orientation and open house. Assists with recruiting. Speaks to 8th graders at the "8th Grade Night Football Game"
Equipment Manager: Catalogs / inventories all band instruments. Facilitates the "Instrument Check Out" process. Leads the "Equipment Crew" in loading and unloading of the band trailer.
Uniform Manager: Inventories and checks all uniforms for cleanliness and quality. Prepares Marching Band uniforms for distribution during band camp. Fits and assigns Marching Band members a uniform for use. Maintains lockers and uniform storage areas.
