MARCHING BAND CAMP - updated August 12, 2018
Tomorrow, Marching Band Camp will continue through Wednesday from 8am-5pm each day.
Students will again be given an hour for lunch each day and need to bring their own food OR they may bring $3.00 for two slices of pizza from Domino's. You can purchase an additional slice for $1 if you so desire. We will also have short breaks often throughout the day. Students are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottle to use throughout the duration of camp.
Band Camp Cookout - updated August 12, 2018
This Thursday is our Band Camp Cookout at Rich Park! The cookout will be from 4:30pm-8:30pm. We will be having our annual beach volleyball tournament and the band boosters will be cooking our hamburgers and hotdogs! Each section has been assigned certain items to bring for the cookout. Don't forget to bring them!
OUR FIRST GAME - updated August 12, 2018
Our first away game is FRIDAY, August 17th. The Marching Band will meet on Friday at 3:30pm to prepare to leave for our game at Page HS. Students need to wear their "Summer Uniform" which is their Marching Band shirt (they will receive this on Tuesday at camp), black athletic shorts, and tennis shoes. The Band Boosters will be providing Arby's Roast Beef sandwiches, chips, and drinks for each student when we arrive at Page. Students will also be given a break during 3rd quarter. During this break they are allowed to visit the concession stands. Kick-off for high school football games is 7:30pm. Each game is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours in length. Assuming the game finishes at 10:00pm, we should return to DHS around 11:20pm. This is, of course, an estimation and is subject to change. Students will be instructed to call their rides when we are approximately 30 minutes away from Davie High.
BAND SPONSORSHIP CHALLENGE - updated July 24, 2018
Our first fundraiser of the year is a our "Band Sponsorship Drive." This will kick-off on August 16th and go through our Fall Concert on October 16th. Click on the button below to print a copy of the sponsorship form. Take the form to local businesses in the Davie, Statesville, Clemmons, and Salisbury areas and talk to them about our band. Don't just go in and start begging for money. Let them know about the Davie High School Band program and ask if they would be willing to be a 2018-19 sponsor. After you visit an organization or business, make sure you enter it on the Sign-up Genius Tracker so we don't end up asking them more than once. Also, be sure to check the Tracker before visiting a business. The student that brings in the most sponsorships will win a cash prize ranging from $50-$100!
MARCHING BAND FEES - updated July 24, 2018
Marching Band Fees are due Friday, August 10th. If fees are not paid by this date YOU WILL NOT participate in the Marching Band this year. Marching Band fees are $200.00. If you need assistance with these fees or have any questions you can contact our Band Booster Treasurer, Wendy Gallimore at email@example.com.
MARCHING BAND MUSIC - updated July 24, 2018
ALL Marching Band Members need to be sure to print the file labeled "Music Packet" and have it ready for Band Camp. Please go ahead and number all the measures and begin practicing. You will need to check your part assignment before printing your music to ensure that you are printing the correct part. If you are marked as playing "3rd" part but a particular song only has 2 parts for your instrument, print the second part. If you play an instrument that only has one part, your name will not have a number in the part assignments. You do not have to print the "Fundamental Packet" unless you want to. This will be printed and made available for you at band camp. If you are unable to print your music, it can be printed for you at DHS during the week of Drumline camp (July 30 - Aug 3)
