BAND PARENT & STUDENT MEETING - updated 08/02/19
There will be a Band Parent & Student meeting on Tuesday evening, August 6th at 6:30pm. The meeting will be at Davie High School in the auditorium. This meeting is important for all parents to attend as we will be giving out information for the year and answering any questions you may have. You may want to go ahead and print the band handbook signature pages and turn them in at this meeting.
NEW BAND REMIND TEXTS - posted 08/02/19
The Remind text message system has gone through some big changes this summer and we have had to change how we use the app. Groups now have limited numbers of participants so we now have 8 different Remind groups. Please ONLY signup for the group that applies to you. Marching Band Members may sign-up for the marching band group and a band class group. Students, please do not sign-up for the "Parents" groups and parents, please do not sign-up for the "Band Member" groups. This will ensure that everyone gets signed-up. To begin receiving Band Remind messages, text the following codes to 81010.
2019 MARCHING BAND - updated 07/01/19
A reminder that the $200 Marching Band fee is due by Friday, August 8th. This can be paid at marching band camp or at the band meeting on Tuesday, August 6th. Checks can be made out to the Davie High Band Boosters and mailed to 180 War Eagle Drive, Mocksville, NC 27028. Be sure to write "Attn: BAND" on the envelope.
MARCHING BAND CAMP - updated 07/01/19
Marching Band Camp begins on Monday, August 5th and ends on August 16th. Camp hours will be from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day. Leadership team needs to be at school no later than 7:30 each morning. Returning members will not report until Tuesday, August 6th at 8:00 AM. We will not have camp on Saturday, August 12th or Sunday, August 13th. Students will need their instruments, music, comfortable clothes, tennis shoes, and plenty of water each day. Additionally, ALL marching band members needs to have a flip folder with at least 13 pages and all members except percussion, flutes, and tubas need an instrument lyre. These items can be purchased at Separk Music in Lewisville or Counter Point Music in downtown Mocksville. Students will be given an hour for lunch each day and need to bring their own food. BAND CAMP REMINDERS!
1. Wear light colored clothes and sneakers – no sandals or flip flops. All clothing must meet school dress code - no spaghetti straps, cut-offs tops or shorts, short shorts, tight shorts.
2. Bring a water bottle with your name on it. Water coolers will be provided during breaks.
3. Wear a hat and/or sunglasses.
4. The use of sun screen and bug repellent will be to your advantage!
5. If you use an inhaler or require an epi-pen, you MUST bring it with you to camp every day.
6. Please make sure your child is getting outside and being hydrated now to prepare for band camp.
